Seasonal Los Cabos Events Starting Up

Seasonal Los Cabos Events Starting Up

One of the reasons Los Cabos has grown in popularity as a retirement community is an amazing weather from November through May. The term snowbird is one commonly known for those who travel south for the winter. Los Cabos provides the perfect setting for those trying to escape the harsh winter months to the north. The “high season” winter months play host to many amazing and fun events and festivals, which residents look forward to attending! Many of these take place from November through May, providing seasonal visitors with the ability to have a full schedule and truly embrace the Baja lifestyle.

Here are some of the favorite seasonal events and festivals to keep on your shortlist:

• Eating right is an important component to a healthy life, and the seasonal Organic Markets make it easy and fun to eat right! There are several organic and farmers’ markets in Los Cabos and to the north on the coast, the 3 most popular are;

Organic Markets make it easy and fun to eat right

o Penny Lane Market open Wednesdays and Saturdays. From 7 am to 1pm is a small farmers market hosted in the Penny Lane restaurant at the north entrance to the Pedregal residential community. While small, the market is a great place for fresh vegetables, poultry, eggs, and baked goods. Several vendors also set-up stands to offer their products and it is a fun and friendly atmosphere. The Penny Lane restaurant also features wonderful breakfasts with organic products, and amazing daily specials, the cinnamon rolls are delicious!

o The San Jose Organic market is the largest organic market open to the public. Located behind the estuary in a big grassy field, this market features several dozen vendors and several merchants offering everything from art, to furniture. Many families make this market a day trip to grab lunch or a late breakfast and of course stock up on supplies. Here you can purchase, chicken, beef, fish, cheeses, and of course fresh vegetables along with sampling food from one or more of the many food vendors lined up in the field. Live music, yoga classes and fun events are held to keep everyone entertained.

o The Pescadero Organic Market is located in the courtyard in front of the famous Baja Beans coffee shop, which started as a small coffee store and has blossomed into a booming operation in Pescadero. Located about 30minuts north of Rancho San Lucas, is Pescadero. The drive is beautiful along the coastal highway, and Pescadero is a scenic quaint coastal town. The market has vegetable vendors and also fisherman from the area offering fresh and smoked fish. Breakfast at Baja Beans is also a great start to the day as they have a wonderful menu and a beautiful courtyard to enjoy a nice coffee or a pastry under the mango trees.

Another November to May event that is great fun is the weekly Art-Walk in San Jose Del Cabo. Every Tuesday evening, as the sun goes down, the streets come alive and light up in the Historic District in San Jose Del Cabo. The art galleries have created this weekly event to help promote the galleries and San Jose Del Cabo. With several of the galleries offering wine and appetizers and visitors can stroll through the galleries and scenic small streets of the district. San Jose, has a vibrant restaurant scene, from street vendors, casual dining to fine dining establishments, there are a lot of choices just in the 6-7 blocks that make up the Art District.

Being that this event runs every Tuesday evening, it takes the pressure off for most residents, as you can choose which Thursday to go and enjoy it on your schedule. It is definitely worth the drive to experience this fun and colorful event.

Holiday Posadas is a popular tradition for many residents in Los Cabos and a great way to have fun with friends and families. Many restaurants and bars and lunges have Christmas or Holiday events as well that many have turned into their annual traditions. A traditional Mexican Posada is often hosted at a friends home, there are many traditional songs that would be similar to caroling in the US or Canada. Cooking is, of course, one of the main focal points of these gatherings, tamales, fruit punch or Ponche, eggnog, are all staples of a fun Posada. There are of course activities for the kids, which usually include the ever-popular Piñata and other party games as well. As Mexico is predominantly a Catholic country, there are many holiday parties and Posadas in the main Plaza Amelia Wilkes in downtown Cabo, where visitors can enjoy treats and have fun and mingle.

Two final seasonal events we want to share with you are located in Todos Santos about 35 minutes north of Rancho San Lucas. In February the annual Art Festival is hosted and March plays host to the Todos Santos Film and Music Festival.  Both of these unique festivals feature a great fun atmosphere in the Pueblo Magico of Todos Santos, a truly special and fun little town to visit. While the weather in February and March is probably the best during the year, these outdoor festivals are really fun. Warm days in the sun and under the canopy at different venues and cool evenings under the stars make these 2 festivals definite must-see events. You can learn more about the Visit Los Cabos calendar, and keep up to date on all Cabo related happenings on social media as well!

The weather is great and we look forward to seeing you back in Los Cabos soon!
